Qasida Modules

This section includes segments of various qasidas written by Hudaat Kiraam in praise of Imams and Dais. The aim of this section is to provide mumineen and their children with the opportunity to recite (and memorize) qasidas with sincerity, understanding, and devotion; and to provide them with a glimpse of the innumerable shaanat of Imams and Dais in order to enable them to reflect on the greatness and magnificence of Awliyaullah. Furthermore, the rhythm and meter in poetry are known to touch/move the heart, and that is precisely the goal of this section – to touch the soul with the zikar of our beloved Awliyaullah.

A Qasida is a poem written in praise of Imams, Dais or Hudat kiraam. The shanaat (virtues) of Awliyaullah are countless, and writing qasidas in praise of Imams and Dais, recounting their innumerable virtues/merits is an important practice in Dawat. It is part of the tradition of the Dawat majlis to include recitation of qasidas written in praise of Awliyaullah in order to remember their shaanaat; this tradition is based on the belief that whosoever does zikar (remembrance) of Imams and Dais is with sincerity and love will be blessed with their shafaa’at and compassion. It is through the qasida that the poet declares his love for and faith in Awliyaullah and by taking their vasila supplicates Allah to shower blessings upon him.

Syedna al Muayyad al Shirazi expresses in one of the many qasidas which he has written in praise of Mustansir Imam how honoured he feels to have written poetry in praise of Imam saying that ‘Your madeh (praise) is my deen (religion), my pride and the mark of my intelligence’. The 51st Dai Syedna Taher Saifuddin has written more than ten thousand verses in praise of Imams and Dais. In one qasida he says:

ِمَدِيْحُ بَنِي الزَّهْرَاءِ خُطَّ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ * وَنُقِّشَ فِي كُرْسِيِّهِ اَحْسَنَ النَّقْش

The madeh of Imams has been inscribed on the ‘arsh (throne) of Allah in the most beautiful calligraphy

Similarly, reciting qasidas written in praise of Imams, Dais and Hudat is considered to have the blessings of the sawab of reciting the Quran. Syedna Taher Saifuddin in one qasida states:

َفِيْ مَدْحِكُمْ نُزِّلَ الْقُرْانُ تَنْزِيْلاَ  * وَفُصِّلَتْ بِكُمُ الْايَاتُ تَفْصِيْلا

The Quran itself has been written in praise of Aimmat, and the meanings within the Quran are revealed by the Imams

It is an honour for us, mumineen, to recite these beautiful qasidas and do zikar of our Hudaat Kiraam. It gives us peace and fills our hearts with love for Imams and Dais- people who are beloved to Allah and who we love and respect very much.
